Hi guys Milan here and welcome to The Football Recap where we will talk about the Premier League and The Championship unfortunately.
Manchester United 1-1 Arsenal
Olivier Giroud’s 89th-minute equaliser earned Arsenal a point and denied Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United a victory they deserved at Old Trafford.
Juan Mata looked to have put United on course for three points with a sweeping left-foot finish from Ander Herrera’s cut-back after 68 minutes. It was a good finish from Juan Mata who is looking a top player under Mourinho.
United had controlled a game that was ordinary for long periods, with Arsenal keeper Petr Cech making important saves and Mourinho left furious that they were denied a first-half penalty by referee Andre Marriner when Nacho Monreal hauled down Antonio Valencia. It was a penalty in my eyes but the Referee made a massive mistake in that game.
The Arsenal got very lucky when Oxlade-Chamberlain crossed in the perfect ball and Giroud who was unmarked in the box and made it 1-1 with a brilliant header. Mourinho was complaining saying Manchester United are the “Unluckiest Team in the league”. May I say United beat Swansea 3-1, Lost to Fernebache in the Europa League, then got destroyed by Chelsea 4-0 and a 0-0 draw against Burnley. They are not unlucky they are just poor. Enough said.
Tottenham Hotspur 3-2 West Ham United
Another team who bottled it this weekend is West Ham who were 2-1 up and then lost 3-2 to their rivals Spurs.
West Ham took the lead when Antonio scored a header then Spurs youngster Harry Winks (Who was Man Of The Match) equalised to make it 1-1. West Ham then made it 2-1 when Lanzini converted from the penalty spot, and they had a chance to make it 3-1 when Zaza was on a counter attack along with Payet but he didn’t pass it to quickly and then they lost possession of the ball.
Harry Kane who returned from injury continues his form after the North London Derby against Arsenal. He made it 2-2 with a nice tidy finish and then it was 3-2 when Spurs had a penalty and Harry Kane went on to win the game.
West Ham are still in trouble as they are 1 point above relegation. Without Europe they need to focus on finishing in the top 10 otherwise it will be the end for Slaven Bilic. Will West Ham get relegated this season? Let me know on Twitter or the comments below.
Crystal Palace 1-2 Manchester City
The return of Yaya Toure who he went on to score a brace to continue the misery for Alan Pardew.
He made it 1-0 with a smashing finish into the top corner when Nolito supplied the pass towards Yaya Toure. He’s one of the contenders for African footballer of the year 2016. Palace made it 1-1 with a good counter attack when Zaha played in a pass towards Connor Wickham with a nice finish passed Bravo.
But Toure, who has not figured at all for City for almost three months, had the final word when he turned home Kevin de Bruyne’s corner from close range. The win moves City second in the table, level on points with leaders Liverpool and with an identical goal difference.
Palace are in big trouble as they are the worse team of 2016 as they are even worse then two teams who got relegated from Football League 2. I think Pardew will get sacked soon if his run continues, but all I can say is thank you for Mile Jedinak who have been our best midfielder.
Brighton 1-1 Aston Villa
Glenn Murray scored his 10th goal this season as Brighton resisted a second-half Aston Villa onslaught to extend their unbeaten league run to 11 games. Also Villa are 6 games unbeaten as well.
We took the lead when Nathan Baker met an Albert Adomah free-kick with a fine flicked header to put Villa in front after 20 minutes. Well done Baker and I don’t know if Elphick will be in the team because Baker and Chester have be so solid since Steve Bruce has come in.
Murray responded by fizzing a low shot past goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini just before the break. Jonathan Kodjia hit the bar and David Stockdale made two crucial saves as Villa pressed for a second-half winner.
The game ends in a draw and we will extend our run and beat Cardiff City this weekend and climb the table. Steve Bruce has really organised with Chester being a good captain, Jedinak being our leader in the midfield and Kodija is on fire and your defence is terrified. UTV!!!
