Aston Villa 3-1 Barnsley| Hogan is our Fox in the Box

Scott Hogan

Villa has done it again and we won 3-1 against Barnsley and we have automatic promotion in our sights.

It was a comfortable game for us and we played really well today in the honour of a former Villa player Cyrille Regis who was an inspiration to many black players and was a legend at clubs like West Brom and Coventry City.

We started really well and we took the lead when Elmo crossed the ball in and Hogan’s reaction speed was phenomenal and he made it 1-0 and it’s 3 goals in a row he has scored and I’m so happy for him. But his day was gonna be better when Snodgrass crossed the ball in from a corner and Hogan was there again in-between the two centre backs and he made it 2-0. Hogan is showing his class this season and he is now settled in the club and he’s is somebody we don’t have.

Hogan is a goal poacher as he’s always being in the right place and finishes like a fox in the box and we are glad to have him in our squad. Few minutes later Barnsley pulled one back from a corner and Cavere made it 2-1 with a powerful header and Sam Johnstone had no chance. We was still attacking and it paid of when Grealish played the ball to former Barnsley man Hourihane who made it 3-1 with a nice calm finish and don’t forget this was all in the first half.

You looking at the squad Hogan had a great game Grealish as well Snodgrass has been fantastic but I have to give a mention to Birkir Bjarnason who played as a Defensive midfielder and he was fantastic and I’ll tell you why.

79% Pass Accuracy

3 Areal duels won

4 Interceptions

4 Clearances

3 Blocked shots

He can be an important player this season if he continues to perform like he did against Barnsley and Nottingham Forest and we should keep him as it’s rumoured he could leave which is a shame.

Overall it was a perfect weekend when every team around us dropped points and we could chase for automatic promotion if we continue to win games including the second city derby soon UTV

Nottingham Forest 0-1 Aston Villa| 4th in the league!!

Aston Villa celebrate Scott Hogan's goal

Being a Villa fan with Steve Bruce is like being a wife to an unfaithful husband where you know he’s cheating on you but then he’s started to bring you flowers and chocolates, so I might give him another chance. Only playing but it was a massive win on the weekend over Nottingham Forest who are a nightmare to beat.

We started well and we was facing a team that outplayed Arsenal in the FA Cup so I was worried coming into this game. Forest also had a new man in charge by the name of Karanka who managed Middlesborough to the Premier League, so yeah I was worried.

We took the lead when Snodgrass crossed in a brilliant ball into the box into Scott Hogan who has been impressive in his last few games. His training has paid of for when he got in front of defender as a striker should do and makes it 1-0. Hogan has been good in his last few games and he’s still effective for our squad, but he needs to be played in the right way to get the best out of him.

Overall we had good chances when Terry’s header hit the crossbar from a Snodgrass cross and also Snodgrass’s freekick was saved by the keeper and we could of won 3-0. Snodgrass is a player I feel we should try keep permanently because he’s showing s he can show his class week in, week out.

We are 4th in the table now 5 points behind Derby who are second so we have a chance to make the automatic play off spot without any problems. Let’s keep this up and we could be back into the Premier League and we can rejoice for when the scum go down.

Aston Villa 5-0 Bristol City| Great start to 2018

Aston Villa goalscorer Robert Snodgrass celebrates

Aston Villa achieved their biggest win of the season and their biggest win in 4 years, against Bristol City to go back into the play-offs.

It was an fanatic win over Bristol City who are like the underdogs this season on this league. This was the best game we’ve had under Steve Bruce in such a long time because ewe go into games and winning them by scraping them but in this game it was comfortable.

I know people will say ” OHHH Milan is now Bruce In!!!” well that hasn’t changed because I still think he’s not the right man because we all know that his football is atrocious. First half started when we had Adomah, Grealish, Hourihane and Snodgrass with Hogan up-front and that destroyed Bristol City. Bristol did cause some pressure on us and we knew what they were capable of. We got the first goal when Grealish plays the ball wide to Adomah, who crosses it in for Hogan who guided his header over the keeper and it was 1-0 and what a header it was from him. Then the it was made when Hogan made a similar header towards goal, but the keeper made a brilliant save but Snodgrass got the rebound.

Second half kicked off and it was all Aston Villa when Grealish was driving the ball forward and then he played the ball to Snodgrass who coolly slots it in the bottom corner to make it 3-0. The it was 4-0 when Hutton played the ball to an unlikely goal scorer in Bikir Bjarnason who finds the bottom corner in front of the Holte End. It was 5-0 when Hourihane finds the back of the net with a deflected shot and it was the most convincing win we’ve had under Steve Bruce and it was a great start to 2018.

Before I go I want to stay Happy New Year to not just Villa fans but all football fans around the world, and hope this year will be successful for you. If you like this blog then make sure you like and follow my blog for more football madness.

Derby County 2-0 Aston Villa|Dinosaur tactics yet again

Aston Villa match reviews are back and I’m ready to do more blogs.

Let’s start off by talking about the previous matches of Aston Villa because it’s been a roller-coaster ride. Well firstly we’ve been picking up loads of good results with wins against the likes of Sunderland, Ispwich. QPR, Preston etc and we’ve been keeping out play-off spot which is good, but then it hit me as we can clinch 2nd place. Then Leeds and Millwall kind of ruined our plans.

A 1-1 draw with a good Leeds side but there was moments in the game where we should of won. But Lansbury and Grealish came on and changed the game and they were instrumental in the way they made an impact. Then Millwall at home, Steve Bruce changed by starting Lansbury ahead of Hourihane and to be honest Lansbury did well for 20 minutes but the fans grew frustrated and we was angry when the game ended 0-0 and we played terrible. So with two draws we was worried as Derby are in incredible form so far and I rate Gary Rowett as he’s a good manager so I was worried.

Derby 2-0 Aston Villa

What an absolute disaster it was at Pride Park as we lost 2-0 to Derby and I’ve had enough. I’m done with Steve Bruce and I’m done with this team, I’ll always support Aston Villa but today we was like a bunch of chickens just clucking around not knowing what to do.

The game started and then line-up was pathetic as we played Jedinak as defender, even though we have a recognised defender on the bench and then not starting a striker and have two strikers on the bench. Tactics was wrong, team was wrong and all the blame has to go to Steve Bruce. Derby got the first goal when Glenn Whelan who has been getting his form back recently but after the three games including this game, he’s not good enough for Villa at all. He made the worst back pass I’ve ever seen in my life and of all people to give it to, he gave to Derby’s top scorer in Vydra who set up former Villa man Weimann and he made it 1-0.

I don’t know why Glenn Whelan keeps getting in the team like he does the job when it comes to tackling but his passing is dreadful and he played in the Premier League. His passing level is close to Sunday League football and I’m not exaggerating. We went in at half time and I was thinking maybe we can give the travelling fans something to cheer, but that ain’t gonna happen Steve Bruce hasn’t done anything to change the team for the second half.

The second half was the same as the first half as we did literally nothing just dominate possession but no shots from apparently strikers but then Hogan came on but Steve Bruce still plays the wrong type of football for Hogan as he likes the ball on the ground. Russell made it 2-0 and it was full time. I’m wondering to myself “how are we still in the play offs as teams below us are climbing and they could replace us if we continue like this.

Sheffield United is a must win and we have a busy January coming with players we need to bring in and I’m looking at Nakhi Wells on loan which will be good and maybe a creative midfielder but I’m not sure who but something has to happen.

Aston Villa 2-1 Fulham| John Terry is the best signing of the season

John Terry

Villa have done it again and we moved into the play-offs with a 2-1 win over Fulham.

We needed to win after the awful performance against Wolves, so we need to bring confidence into the side and keep our home record because we haven’t lost at home yet. Fulham looked really good on the day when they had two great chances in the first 5 minutes. They looked sharp, they got pace and we left them so much space to create a chance.

This has been happening since the start of the season where teams come to Villa Park and we make teams look world class. We need to shut teams down from minute 1 to minute 90. First half we dominated Fulham and it payed off when Snodgrass won a free kick.

Hourihane crossed it in and The Captain John Terry meets the ball and he made it 1-0.  Terry has made a massive difference to Aston Villa. His leadership skills, his organisation and his character has been extremely key to our side and I do hope we can give him another one-year deal. He was my man of the match for the game as it was his best game in a villa shirt so far.

Before half time Fulham won a free kick after a challenge by Whelan (AKA Westwood Number 2), Johansen took it and it found the bottom corner brilliantly and it was 1-1 at Villa Park. Second half kicked off and Onomah was on the ball and he squared it to Kodija, who miskicked it but Adomah was there to make it 2-1.

We hold on and we won 2-1 and now we are finally in the play-offs and we have the confidence into the next game which our rivals Birmingham City. We need to maintain our position in the play-offs and keep hammering teams in order to reach the Premier League.

Aston Villa 1-0 Bolton| Ugly but three points again

Jonathan Kodjia

Aston Villa makes it 4 wins in a row after beating Bolton 1-0 in wet conditions at Villa Park.

The game was really stressful when we have chance after chance in the first half, but eventually we did took we when Kodija was brought down and he stepped up. Kodija needed a goal to get the confidence after the ankle injury, he stepped up sends the keeper the wrong way and it’s 1-0.

But the rest off the game was just boring, let’s be honest. But I’m happy with the result as we are 7th in the league, a point off the play-offs, three points off top four, 5 clean sheets out of six and unbeaten at home and unbeaten in 8 games. But somehow these amazing stats that I’ve said doesn’t make a difference to some Villa fans who are still ¬†screaming Bruce Out.

Speaking about this I want to address this to many fans about Steve Bruce. Because it’s frustrating me that fans are still moaning even when we are doing good. I put a post on Facebook to see who’s Bruce in and Bruce out. To my surprise theirs more for Bruce out and theirs a few fans who are Bruce in. In my opinion I am Bruce in because Steve Bruce is by far a better manager then the last 4 or 5 managers we had after Martin O’Neil. He can actually organise a defence and can put in the right discipline towards the players and be completely honest when in press conferences and post match reactions.

His championship record speaks for itself when he gained promotion with 3 or 4 teams to the Premier League. He is the right man for the job and we should hold on to him for a long time until the right man comes along to carry on the dynasty in the near future. I remember when we had Martin O’Neil and we was finishing 6th in three consecutive seasons. Then him and then owner Randy Lerner parted ways and my goodness, that was the worst decision we’ve ever made.

All I’m saying is get behind Steve Bruce and get behind the team and we will become better then ever when we are back in the Premier League UTV!!

Burton Albion 0-4 Aston Villa| Burton were outclassed!

Robert Snodgrass celebrates

4 goals, clean sheet, 3 wins in a row and I wonder why people are moaning still? Aston Villa came to Burton’s ground and we showed our class today and we smashed Burton Albion 4-0!

What can I say that’s bad about the game for us, we came to Burton Albion and we continued our good form and now we are a point off the play offs. First half kicked off and we started well when Elmohamady (Who’s been decent so far) crossed the ball in the ball and youngster dominated in the air, headed the ball into the net and we was off to a good start.

Then it was 2-0 when Snodgrass played a through ball and Adomah puts the ball into the bottom corner without any fear. Then it was made 3-0 when the ball was in the air and Snodgrass hits it perfectly first time into the corner and it was his first goal for Villa.

Second half started and we stepped off the gas a bit and we was in cruise control. Steve Bruce took Kodija and Davis off for Hogan and Onomah, which was good because they can rest and train for the game against Bolton on the weekend. Then the damage was completed when Hogan squared the ball across the Onomah who made it 4-0 and overall it was a fantastic performance from Villa.

I feel that Bolton will play defensive because they know Villa are in from so we need to score a goal and then we can dominate Bolton and 3 points will be ours. Keep the momentum and we can be in the top 6 in no time UTV!!!
