What a day, What a performance and What a result to put us 2nd in the league and one point ahead of Derby.
This game means a lot to me as this is the fixture I look forward to the most because the rivalry is huge in Birmingham. We started the game really well as it was the same team but Steve Bruce made one change which is Jedinak in for Bjarnason. We had a really good chance when Hogan came close to score as his shot hit the crossbar, then Birmingham had a chance when Gallagher hits the post and couldn’t get the rebound.
We had chance after chance as we could be 2-0 up in the first half and we wasn’t taking our chances as Birmingham was poor defensively. But it was neck and neck with both teams really going for it because for us it be crucial in our return to the Premier League and for Birmingham it would be crucial in them staying in the Championship.
Second half started and to be honest we dominated and they collapsed. Grealish got the ball and he was playing with the defenders and he slipped through Adomah took a touch and he found the bottom corner to make it 1-0 and Villa Park went mental. Then it went absolutely metal when the ball fall to Conor Hourihane and fires it from 20 yards and it was a goal that was worthy to win the Second City derby. They had a player sent off for Birmingham in the last few minutes of the game and overall it was a brilliant game of football and this result is fitting for Steve Bruce personally and we played for him today.
